The 780 Handheld Test Instrument is a portable multimedia generator and analyzer that enables you to conduct quick verification tests of all your HDMI products—source, sinks, repeaters, distribution devices—on-site or in an R&D environment. The instruments’ color touch displays make them easy and convenient to use.

The 780 Test Instrument supports pixel rates up to 165MHz and TMDS clock rates up to 225MHz for deep color on the HDMI Tx port and up to 150MHz on the HDMI Rx port.

The 780B builds upon the 780A, expanding the interface and functionality for ease of operation. The larger 7” 800x480 resolution colour touch screen display enables easier control and greater convenience in viewing the results of analysis tests such as Auxiliary Channel Analyzer traces, or HDMI source captures. Enhancements for the R&D lab include a new optional auto EDID test which can run verification of commercial or custom EDIDs to determine proper handling by source devices.

HDMI – HDBaseT – 3G-SDI

The flagship of the 780 family, the 780C is not restricted to just HDMI functionality. The 780C is equipped with multiple interface types including HDMI, HDBaseT, 3G-SDI and component analog. Testing digital interfaces is supported by both an output port and an input port to allow testing of digital video sources, displays, audio devices and distribution devices. Testing hybrid converter devices supporting 3G-SDI, HDMI, HDBaseT distribution networks is a key application of the 780C as well.

The rack mountable 804A is optimized for testing modern HDMI flat panel TVs on a production line, up to UHD 2160p. It features four (4) HDMI outputs—all active simultaneously—for testing HDTVs with multiple HDMI inputs. This eliminates the need for splitters often required for testing each HDMI input on an HDTV. The 804A can also output component analog and composite analog for testing an HDTVs analog video outputs. The 804A is equipped with all the standard video timings up to 300 MHz and test patterns including 3D patterns and tests for HDMI protocols such as HDCP, EDID and CEC.

The 804A tests compressed and uncompressed HDMI audio formats using a variety of audio test signals. An HDTV’s analog audio inputs can also be tested using the 804A’s programmable analog audio outputs.

The rack mountable model 804B video test generator is optimized for testing modern HDMI 2.0 flat panel TVs. The 804B video test generator supports testing of HDMI 4K x 2K resolutions up to pixel rates of 600MHz. This enables testing ultra HD TVs with 4K resolutions at 50/60Hz with either 4:2:0 or 4:4:4 pixel encoding. The 804B also supports testing with HDMI 2.0 21:9 format resolutions up to 600MHz.
